Figure out what you love and do it for a living-
I feel like I am one of the lucky few who have taken that phrase to heart and succeeded
When I was in college I was obsessed with the TLC daytime line-up: "A Wedding Story" "A Makeover Story" "A Dating Story." Everyday I would rush home from class and watch my "shows." All the gals in my house would mock me. I mean, it was a bit absurd, but in my heart of hearts I knew that more than anything I wanted to work on a TV show for TLC. I would make it happen.
6 months after graduation my hopes came to fruition. I was hired as an intern at the production company that makes these shows and was assigned to a new program in their schedule called "Trading Spaces" based on the BBC hit "Changing Rooms." At the time I was waitressing full time, working for free for one of these shows seemed like the golden ticket.
I was right, it was.
What followed were the most AMAZING years of my life. They have exceeded my wildest dreams. I have traveled all over the US and to several parts of the world. I have met people from all walks of life, heard their stories, explored where and how they live.
I have grown as a person, professionally and creatively.
Next Wednesday will be the Season 6 Wrap Party for Trading Spaces, a night to celebrate our years work. I know that at the end of the evening a chapter in my life will close as from now on the show will no longer be produced the way that I know it today.
Over the next few days I want to share some highlights from my journeys with "Trading Spaces," a show that most certainly shaped who I am today. I'm sharing this mostly for myself as it's a way to say thank you. Trading Spaces isn't one person, it's a moment in time, and what better way to say thank you than to share what you have learned with others...
